As a creator whose business is built on fresh and innovative fabric collage and quilt design, I am always seeking inspiration to guide my work.

I thought that it might be fun to include our Collage Quilter Academy Facebook group in this creative exercise!  To foster a spirit of creativity in our community, I have concocted this “Creative Challenge” that I hope provides you with inspiration and some fun.

One hobby that I enjoy and which inspires me, is fresh flower arranging.  I love to pick up bunches of flowers at Trader Joe’s, or my local market to arrange them at my house.  I also collect containers for my flower arrangements– I especially like antique ceramic water pitchers (I’ve inherited a few of them from my grandmothers).  I always end up making several arrangements which provide cheer and beauty to my kitchen and dining room.  

This is what will provide the foundation for our group’s first creative challenge!  Think lush flower arrangements, antique vases, CHINOISERIE (of course), a refined and sophisticated palette of verdant greens, cheerful pinks and oranges.  Most importantly, think about how good it feels to be a maker!

At the end of each month, we will award a "viewer's choice" prize to the member who receives the most votes for their interpretation of the challenge.
