Worth every penny! I’ve watched most of Emily’s instructional YouTube videos which are great. AND this deep dive on color theory answered several lingering questions on choosing color palettes. I now know the “muted” color scheme that had confounded me for months, is actually a palette of complementary colors in various saturations! Emily and Amelia know their stuff! Highly recommended!!

I recently participated in Emily’s and Amelia’s webinar on Color Theory and Principles of Design. It was a small enough group that it felt like a very intimate and interactive group discussion where we could examine ideas and concepts and later test them out in the “Does This Design Work?” round table. Everyone had great insights and interpretations. I had not covered color theory since art class in high school decades ago, so this class full of experienced fabric artists was just what I needed as I continue to tackle more collage quilt projects and design my own patterns. Highly recommend this webinar!

Live Webinar with Emily

I took Emily’s webinar and found it to be extremely valuable. I’ve worked on collage quilts for a year and this class offers something for beginners as well as experienced quilters. There were 13 participants so there was opportunity for individual questions and enough people for good discussion. Emily was very candid and open to questions, willing to veer off her prepared presentation to address problems I had struggled with regarding determining values and applying this to her patterns. Amelia presented a systematic way to approach design which I have been applying to my work since. At the end we had an opportunity to critique various collages and that generated a good discussion. I am much more confident and creative when making collages since learning from Emily and Amelia and my friends have noticed and commented on how my work has evolved. Thank you Emily and Amelia for this opportunity! I would highly recommend this webinar and would love to take another one sometime.

I’ve been studying color theory and taking different courses but Emily’s and her daughter’s webinar was fantastic for me as a quilter. We talked about when and why to use or not use certain designs or colors in our quilt to make it successful. We learned what makes a quilt successful and not to let your personal taste override the quilt design. For example not everyone likes red but that doesn’t mean the quilt is unsuccessful. I highly recommend taking this interactive webinar.

I attended Emily's webinar and thoroughly enjoyed it!! I really liked the explanation of color theory as I can sense what colors look good but have never really understood why. Emily explains color theory in such a way that is easy to understand. The section on Design was very helpful in understanding the principles. All the examples with question/answer time really solidified the principles. I highly recommend the webinar!

This seminar was very well organized and taught with a clear overview of what items would be covered. Then each principle was thoroughly explained in detail in a way that students could understand with lots of time for questions at each section. Emily was very flexible in meeting us at our own unique experience levels. What was most reinforcing was the last section, where we had to become art critics and dissect each collage and what was working for it and what was not. Highly recommend this seminar for those wanting an in depth understanding of why certain elements of design and color work and how to use them.
