Customer photo review of Octopus Garden

I made my granddaughter an applique quilt that she loved. She then turned to me and asked for a blue octopus tshirt. I found Emily's pattern for an octopus and ordered it. I had some leftover batik fabric in blues and squash and made this octopus. He fit perfectly on the tshirt! More importantly, me granddaughter loves it. She wore it to the 1st day back in school and was around to have something unique to show her friends.

Could not find material used in pattern so decided to substitute a jelly roll from Kaffe Fassett + other fabrics in the Free Spirit group + some from my stash. This is my first collage quilt so I had lots of fun and learned a lot. The glue from steam a seam gets on your machine needle and your Iron too if you do not use a press cloth .

By learning this quilting technique, I also expanded my depth of color visualization. This is a style of quilting I believe I'll use again in future pictorials.

I am still working on this quilt so no photos yet! But the patterns is very user friendly and the sea creatures are a wonderful size! The shading helps you to place the pieces for best effect.

Thank you Mrs Emily for sharing your passion. The website is well stocked and fast shipping is a nice bonus too. Will definitely be ordering again

The details are exceptional.

I cannot find in your directions how u go about getting the material that already has the seam a seam into the shape of individual pieces. I traced the pattern again on to freeze paper so I could iron it on to prepared fabric to get each shape. It is something I learned in doing other patterns. I liked everything else but found that part in instructions confusing.

Store owner replied: Hi Sally~ Please do NOT use freezer paper in place of parchment paper! My method for collage is different from other collage patterns you may have used, so please refer to the pattern for my instructions. I also invite you to check out the video tutorials on YouTube where I demonstrate that the shapes you cut are random and vary in size. Be sure to overlap the pieces to ensure that they will stick to each other when your collage is complete. You can find my YouTube channel here: https://youtube.com/@CollageQuilter?si=8fyQkWp-JCDYoWjD
